Section 3-Language: (20 Questions: 25 marks)
The main purpose of this test is to assess the reading comprehension skills of the candidates. The test consists of 4 passages. Each passage is followed by five questions. Candidates are required to read each passage carefully and then attempt the questions that follow.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE JNV SELECTION TEST
1. Rules for Selection and Admission
(1) Since this is a competitive exam, it is not sufficient for a candidate to merely pass in the three sections. The candidate must try to get maximum marks and a high rank in the merit list.
(2) It is not to be supposed that high marks will ensure a seat in the JNVs. At the time of seeking actual admission, each selected candidate will have to produce all the relevant certificates, as prescribed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
(3) At the time of seeking actual admission, till the relevant certificates have been checked and found to be satisfactory, the selection will be considered provisional.
(4) In case of any dispute, the decision of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti shall be final and binding on the candidates.
(5) Marks obtained by the candidates (both selected and not selected) in the test will not be communicated.
(6) There is no provision for re-evaluation of answer scripts. Since the results are processed through computers and sufficient care is taken to ensure accuracy through various checks in processing the results, no request for re-totalling of marks will be entertained.
(7) While making any inquiries, the candidate's name, seat number, centre number, block, district and state should be mentioned clearly or the inquiry will not be entertained.
(8) The candidates and their parents/guardians may note that under the scheme of the JNVs, students of a JNV located in one state may be transferred to a JNV located in another state for one academic year when the students are promoted to Class IX. In case of refusal of the students selected for this migration, continuation of such students in JNV will not be allowed.
(9) The candidates and their parents/guardians may note that the children selected on the basis of the test will be admitted only in the JNV located in the district from where they appeared for the JNVST. Under no circumstances will the selected candidate be given admission to any other JNV. No request for shifting of students will be entertained.
(10) Candidates belonging to the SC/ST category will have to produce a certificate of the Caste/Tribe at the time of seeking admission, if selected. Such a certificate should be produced from a competent authority before 15th July of the year of seeking admission so that it may be submitted to the Principal of the concerned JNV at the time of admission.
